- Summary: Steps needed to setup a new Jet report user in SR 2016
Details
After creating the new NAV and Jet user, the Jet client should be installed in the user workstation using the Jet Activation Key (In case you do not have the key, just follow How-To-Find-Your-Jet-Activation-Code-in-Jet-Excel-add-in)
The steps under Resolution will explain how to import the Jet client configuration and create a web service access key for the new Jet client user.
Resolution
Pre-requisite: the workstation will need the Microsoft® ODBC Driver 11 for SQL Server® - Windows. Ensure the installer matches the NAV 2016 binary, usually 64 bit.
1. Start exporting the Jet Data Source file from another Jet client. Then import it in the new user Jet client (info here)
2. In NAV, generate a Web Service Access Key for the desired user:
3. For jet reports, the username and password come from the user card within Navision. The username would be what is shown below under username (JOHN SMITH).
4. The password would be what is shown under “Web Service Access”. You can copy that string from her user account in Navision and paste it within the jet reports config.
