  • Summary: Error: "Check G/L Acc. Deletion After must have a value in General Ledger Setup: Primary Key=. It cannot be zero or empty" when trying to delete a G/L Account

Details

In the Chart of Accounts page users can create, edit, and delete G/L Accounts. However, to delete G/L Accounts an additional set up is needed otherwise you will receive the error message "Check G/L Acc. Deletion After must have a value in General Ledger Setup: Primary Key=. It cannot be zero or empty" when trying to delete a G/L Account

Resolution

Go to the General Ledger Setup page and enter a date in the Check G/L Acc. Deletion After field. This field Specifies if and when general ledger accounts can be deleted. If you enter a date, G/L accounts with entries on or after this date can be deleted only after confirmation by the user. This setting is only valid when the field "Block Deletion of G/L accounts" is set to No.

Impact / Risks

Doing this will allow deletion of any G/L Account so be careful not to delete valid accounts.
