SOAP has been superseded by OData, which provides improved performance and reliability. It is recommended that you switch to OData as soon as possible. Switching to OData is a simple process that involves changing the Jet Reports settings in Excel.

  

Resolution  

Follow these steps to switch Jet Reports from using SOAP to OData web services:

  1. Open Excel and go to the Jet tab.
  2. Click on Settings, then Data Source Settings.
  3. Under Web Service, change the radio button to "Use OData web services."
  4. Click Test Connection to ensure that Jet can still connect to the data source. If the test is successful, click OK to save the changes.

 

Impact / Risks  

There are no risks associated with switching from SOAP to OData. In fact, switching to OData can provide improved performance and reliability.
