  • Summary: Adding User Permissions in SR365

Details

In Sparkrock 365, user permissions are managed through permission sets. Permission sets are collections of permissions that determine what a user can and cannot do within the system.

You can assign multiple users to a Permission Set or you can assign a User Permission Set directly to a user and a user group can be granted permissions through permissions sets.

Resolution

Add User-Defined Permissions Set to a User

In Sparkrock 365, you can add user permissions using the following steps:

 1. Go to the "Users" page, Select the user that you want to modify or create permissions for.

2. Click on the "Edit" button to open the user details page.

3. Scroll down to the "Permissions" section and click on "New Permission Set" if you want to create a new permission set or click on an existing permission set to modify it.

4. In the permission set, you can add or remove permissions as needed. You can also modify existing permissions by clicking on them.

5. Once you have made the necessary changes to the permission set, click on "Save" to save your changes.

6. Assign the permission set to the user by selecting it from the "Permission Set ID" dropdown menu on the user details page.

7. Click on "Save" to save the user's permission set.

To view or edit a user's permissions

  1. Choose the search icon, enter Users, and then choose the related link.
  2. Open the card of the relevant user.
  3. Choose the Effective Permissions action.

The Permissions part lists all the database objects that the user has access to. You cannot edit this section.

The By Permission Set part shows the assigned permission sets through which the permissions are granted to the user, the source and type of the permission set, and to which extend the different access types are permitted.

Impact / Risks

It is important to assign permissions carefully and only to users who need them to perform their job duties. Giving unnecessary permissions can lead to security issues and data breaches.
